INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated Sustainability & Vendor Research Intern to support nationwide research and data organization related to alternate environmental waste management practices and emerging innovative, sustainability technologies and circular economy initiatives. This role is ideal for college students interested in environmental and sustainability research, waste reduction, recycling, organics diversion, product stewardship, and circular systems.
The intern will research vendors, technologies, and programs across multiple sustainability focus areas and expand/edit/reorganize information database that enables faster decision-making and strategic program development. This work will directly support Corporate Line of Business growth initiatives by reducing time spent searching for information and improving internal knowledge resources for program expansion.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct nationwide research on sustainability vendors, technologies, and service providers, including:
- Recycling, reuse, repurpose, reclamation solutions (R4)
- Circular economy technologies
- Waste diversion
- Emerging sustainable and innovative material management methods
- Compile, organize, and maintain a structured vendor and technology tracking database.
- Expand, build, edit, and reorganize existing information systems for clarity and usability.
- Develop concise, engaging vendor summaries that highlight:
- Core capabilities
- Sustainability practices
- Recycling and diversion outcomes
- Geographic coverage and scalability
- Verify and update existing data for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify gaps in research and recommend additional vendors or technologies.
- Support the Sustainability and Innovation team with ad hoc research or analysis projects as needed.
WORK HOURS, BENEFITS, PAY:
- Full-time (Monday to Friday), hybrid in office
- 8 Weeks (June 1- July 31st)
- Hourly Rate: $22-24
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ideal candidate would be a college junior or senior who is actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or a similar field of study.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- High proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Ability to navigate multiple systems to research and find information
- Interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication
- Must possess a high level of motivation and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Above average spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- High level of organizational ability and ability to multi-task
- Professional demeanor
- Ability to be proactive and work independently
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with good analytical skills
