Job Description

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager will maintain responsibility for overall shift operations, production performance, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance. The Operations Manager will also maintain and monitor facility and staff for regulatory compliance and safe behavior in accordance with all federal, state, local, and customer requirements.

 

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Maintain facility operational documentation to include reports, licenses, procedures, order requirements, etc.
  • Accomplish production staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff by selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; bench marking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Work Environment:                                                            

 

  • Ability to regularly access and use general office equipment including phones, computers, copiers, etc.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, often distracting work environment that is generally climate controlled.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.

 


Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or GED, Associates or Bachelors preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 8 years of Facility Supervisory experience
    • Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience – Welding, Fabrication, General Maintenance
    • Minimum 5 years construction equipment operational knowledge of: Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Screeners, Truck Scale
    • Materials processing experience
    • Facility Asphalt/concrete/processing plant experience
    • Willingness and ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel toed shoes, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator
    • Extremely organized and attention to detail required
    • Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers
    • Ability to follow directions or instructions
    • Ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
    • Labor relations /employee management experience
