Job Description

The Laborer/Operators job is to obtain directives from Shift Supervisor to safely and proficiently operate various types of equipment including a front-end loader and tractor.

  • Operate under direction of plant supervision
  • To obtain directives from Shift Supervisor Safely and proficiently operate various types of equipment involving shifting gears. Ability to work of equipment as well doing general labor as needed. Minimum 2 years' experience with running loaders and tractor
  • Follow lockout procedures
  • Obtain, use and maintain PPE
  • Make sure work area is safe and free of debris
  • Ensure that all guards are in place in the immediate work area
  • Work will be performed as per supervisor’s instructions
  • Assist plant personnel when needed
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions, practices or accident, injury, near miss disputes or concerns and/or other circumstances

Qualifications

  • Should have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years Heavy Equipment Operation with Loader and Tractor
  • Previous experience of working on a steel mill  or industrial environment is an asset
