Job Description

FACILITY TRANSPORTATION AND OPERATIONS INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:

This internship aims to enhance the candidate's business management and logistics skills by assisting with analyzing and optimizing transportation lanes and working with the company’s facility and logistics operations and sales teams.

The Facility Transportation and Operations Intern will collaborate with facility operations, transportation, sales and other internal departments and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities will vary based on workload, with a primary focus on improving third party transportation and facility operations efficiencies through research, managing data analysis, generating reports, interfacing with third party transporters, and process development. 

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

This intern will support the Transportation Logistics, Commercial Sales, and Facility Operations teams.   Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Monitor key metrics for inbound and outbound transportation routes for profitability and operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Support transportation analysis and process improvements projects focused on timely identification of opportunities for cost savings.
  • Interact with internal sales team and third-party transporters for transportation quotes and scheduling.
  • Assist in developing recommendations for cost reduction and process improvements.  Prepare reports and presentations to management summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Perform other duties and assist with other projects as assigned.
  • Attend meetings related to your position

Qualifications

WORK HOURS, BENEFITS, PAY:

  • Full-time (Monday to Friday) in office, Day Shift (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. / hours may vary)
  • 8 Weeks (June 1- July 31st)
  • Hourly Rate: $22.00

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Ideal candidate would be a college junior or senior who is actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, logistics, or similar field of study. 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to navigate multiple systems to research and find information
  • Interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication
  • Must possess a high level of motivation and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • High level of organizational ability and ability to multi-task
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with good analytical skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Work Environment

  • Required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment including eye protection, foot protection, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator when needed. 
  • Ability to maneuver around heavy equipment including bending, climbing, crawling, manual dexterity, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.   
  • Willingness and ability to work in a hands-on manner to execute activities. 
  • Must be able to pass a DEA background check when relevant.
